Painting the Master Bathroom...

Call me crazy...I took advantage of Sherwin Williams' paint sale last week and painted our master bathroom this week!  This makes the 7th area of our home that has been painted since moving in in late January.  With every room I paint, it feels more and more like ours!

Here is what we started with...

Not an awful color...chocolate brown can be a good thing.  But we have SO much brown/orange/tan in our tile work and in our cabinets, and the brown was really accentuating that.  I envisioned a gray blue/green in here to really brighten it up and neutralize some of the brown...

Although you can't see it in the picture, the tile that you see on a diagonal in the flooring actually has a gray blue/green in it, and after looking through my color deck, Sherwin Williams' Silver Strand looked like a good fit.  I went with a satin finish, as we currently had flat paint on the walls (a disaster in a bathroom).  The walls had to be primed prior to painting, but it was worth it!

And the newly painted bath...

Much better, right?  I'd still like to change out the cabinet hardware, hang actual blinds on the window (there is an accordion paper shade on there now), hang curtains on the window, frame out the mirror, AND (in a perfect world) change out the lighting.  But before I get to any of that, there is one thing you  may have noticed in a couple of the pictures...the paint job isn't totally finished.

See these brown triangles at the top of the walls?  Yep, they need to be painting out in the ceiling color.  Why they were ever painted the wall color, I don't really know.  This is going to require a tall ladder and some dangerous balancing.  It's a two person job (as I am NOT getting on a big ladder by myself), so I'll have to wait until Andy is able to give me a few hours of his time on a weekend (he's super excited).

So for now, we'll just try not to look up!
