New Lighting

So, after our very first lighting changeout in the new house, I swore I'd leave the other fixtures in the house alone.  But, then West Elm happened to put their lighting on sale a couple of weeks ago, and my mind was magically changed.  Funny how deals can make me jump the gun a bit faster.

I also knew that we had yard sale money to spare, and I felt pretty certain that Andy (a.k.a. The Craigslist King) could rid us of our current chandy fairly easily.  Which chandelier might I be speaking of?  The one in the dining room...

Don't get me wrong, it isn't altogether hideous by any means, it just feels a bit builder grade and is currently residing on the dinky-mcdinkster side of things (it's small for the space).  All that we've really done in the dining room is paint, add bamboo shades and curtains, and fill it with furniture.  Therefore, one more changeout seemed do-able.

All of this to say, the new light fixture is a completely different bird.  It's really not a chandelier at all...

Enter the "Short Drum Pendant" from West Elm.  We went with the natural linen shade (as pictured above) and black hardware.  I really can't wait to see how it will look.  It is larger in diameter than the current light fixture, so I am hoping it balances the room a bit better.  Nothing worse than a dinky fixture over a table!

The first priority is to finish up the built-in, but after that project concludes, hopefully we can show this puppy in place.
