Lighting Change-Up...

As promised, here is the new light fixture up and running in the dining room!  Handy Andy struck again as this was NOT the easiest lighting change out that we have ever completed.  Let's just say that as much as I LOVE West Elm, they could stand to work on their instructions with their lighting kits.  There was a bit of guess work that went into this project.

First off, the Short Drum Pendant we purchased was intended to be plugged in.  Well, that's a problem when you really want it hardwired into your ceiling as your last light fixture was.  So, Andy had to cut the electrical cord, strip the wire cover, and hard wire the pendant manually (which of course required a trip to Lowe's to purchase a cord stripper thingy).  He also used this tutorial, which I later found opened on my computer and thought it may help others out there that might be needing the same information (for converting a plug-in).

Anywho, after much more time than we thought we would need, the new pendant is up, and I am loving everything about it.  Prepare yourself for way too many pictures of our dining room (I never feel like I really "capture" the look all that well, so I just keep snapping pictures).

First, with the light off...

And light on...

Too many pictures?  Yep, thought so.  The weirdest part is I feel like the shade looks smaller in pictures than in person.  Isn't that strange?  I thought the camera added 10 lbs...

Well, this concludes our dining room tour.  The only things left to do in here are possibly recover the seat cushions on the x-back chairs and add a table runner/updated centerpiece.  Oh, and finish painting those darn columns--how could I forget that?  Almost there!
