Repainting a Room...

Admittedly, I am not the best at picking paint colors.  I LOVE color, which may actually be part of the problem.  I went a bit too bold with a few of my choices around the house, as you will see in the following pictures.  Your first house is your trial run, right?  Maybe I will get it together eventually.

I went and got the paint today.  There is something about actually purchasing the paint that makes me feel more motivated to get it done.

This is the guest bedroom that I will be painting.

So, obviously I did NOT want the paint in this room to resemble a basketball.  However, it happened.  I was picturing the color of a nice pair of camel-colored leather boots.  Needless to say, I did not get what I was going for.

Does anyone else feel that the color on the paint card always grows brighter, bolder, darker, etc. when put on the walls?  It's like the color multiplies!

I must have trouble seeing the big picture with paint colors.

So, when I finally felt ready to make a change, my mom picked Rice Paddy from the Sherwin Williams deck for me (she picks paint colors for customers all of the time--why haven't I been running colors by her more often?).  It is a shade lighter than the bedspread in the room.  Although the camera flash washed it out a bit, it is a paler green.  Hopefully it will go a long way in lightening up the room.

I slapped a bit on the wall to see what it would do.  It's hard to tell much from this, but it looks like I'm definitely going to need to use a bit of primer (unless I want to buy another gallon of paint).

We shall see how it turns out.  My goal is to have both guest bedrooms repainted by New Year's--hold me to it!
