A lot of work and one chair later...

So my mom came up for a big day of painting, reupholstering, cleaning up and cleaning out, fabric shopping, and 3 stops at Lowes.  Let me tell you all about it...

First, my mom braved a ridiculously tall ladder to finish the stairwell painting.  She is officially the Master Painter.  Really.  Not to mention, she's my go-to decorating expert.  She's like my own personal David Bromstad (if that means nothing to you, get to watching HGTV!).  Here is a picture from her painting adventures today...

Seriously!  She is a crazy woman!  This ladder is balanced on one little stair and is at least eight feet in the air--she's nuts!

In case you were wondering what that magnificent tool was that she was using in the last action picture, it is our homemade extender brush thingy.  Awesome, huh?  Nothing a little duct tape can't fix!  If you would like to purchase one, just let me know!  Yes, Mom, I totally realize you are not happy about being on the blog. :)

Next, we filled my little brother's truck bed with a lot of junk that needed to go to the dump.  We had old shutters, sinks, vanity tops, and more that badly needed to get out of our garage.  We loaded up the ole' truck and headed to the city dump...it was an experience!

The dump...LOVELY!

Me in front of the "random trash" bin.  Please notice the seashell vanity top and fluorescent light box in the background...whose could those be?  I haven't the slightest clue. :)

We also worked on the Craigslist chair you've heard so much about.  This is the last post about this piece--promise!  We started out with something like this...

Um...yeah.  I thought the same thing...did someone have an accident many moons ago while sitting in this chair?  We immediately removed this sucker and replaced it with new padding.

Yes, you can sit on this chair when you come to visit...we took care of this little issue. :)

Next, we stapled on the batting...

This helps to smooth out the lines that the foam padding creates...

Now we are ready for the fabric!

Sizing up the fabric for the seat...

Sizing up the fabric for the back cushion...this might have been after the first staple gun died on us.  This event led us to our second of three Lowes trips.

Much tucking, stapling, and tacking later...we have a finished chair!!!

Quick reminder of what the old chair looked like...

We used little antiqued bronze studs to secure the fabric even more.  I really liked the look!

In its home!

The back...

So, as you can see, we had a very eventful day.  There was also a Goodwill and fabric store run in our day that I won't go in to.  Time for some rest!!!
