Fabulously Fun Finds...

First off, I have truly been inspired.  I often "stalk" The Nester's blog (see The Nesting Place on the right) and am completely amazed by how she turns everyday things into treasures.  She often takes yard sale finds (such as furniture pieces) and paints them to where they look brand new.  She recently featured a chair that she had redone and it completely motivated me to do the same.  I had already redone a desk chair in the past (see older posts), but I wanted to find a slightly unusual chair to revamp.  Well, I got to browsing on Craigslist (love it!) and found a listing for a paisley print chair.  Naturally, this caught my attention (I love paisley print anything).  So, today my mom and I went and picked up my cheap little find.  Here she is...

Yes, I fully realize I have a lot of work to do--but I see potential!!!  I've got to shop around for a fabric that will work in our slightly "busy" living room (I already have two patterned fabrics going right now).  Then, I have to decide how to paint/possibly distress the wooden parts of the chair.  I am really excited to see how it turns out!

Also on today's schedule was the flea market.  No, for once, I did not purchase a painting.  Well, to be honest I should say that I talked myself out of a painting.  I have so many other things that I need to worry with in the house!  So, we walked around in the excruciating heat all in search of a deal.  It was miserable to say the least.  We both felt largely dehydrated after our time there.  But along the way I did find some deals that made it all worth it.  First, I FINALLY found an end table for our living room.  We had been using a smaller rattan storage cube as a lamp table and it was not working.  It was too short and not the right look.  I had been really disappointed because every end table I had found was much more expensive than I was comfortable with.  But the flea market came through for me.  I found one for 25 bucks!  Woo-hoo!  Here is my darling little table...

Although the coloring could be better for the living room, I LOVE the paint job they did on the table.  I couldn't do anything better myself, so it shall stay!

I also found something that most people purchased five or so years ago. :)  I have always wanted a wooden candle thingy (no clue what they are actually called)--you know the ones like Pottery Barn carries?  Yep--many of you will say, "Oh, I got one of those years ago."  Or you may think, "Wow, those are so 2005."  Well, I was waiting for the right price, okay???  My wait paid off and I got a great deal on this little guy...

Now I just need the candles to go in it!!!

Last but not least, my mom brought me my red piece that I had bought last weekend.  Yes, we beefy women carried that sucker from the car to the house.  A certain someone said we wouldn't be able to carry it because it was "really heavy."  I won't name names, DAD!  Well, we did it and it is now sitting in the middle of our bonus room...blocking the good TV.  Yes, Andy may kill me. :)  My hopes are that the TV can sit on it, but it will be a significant height change...we wouldn't want to mess up the view for certain sports fanatics out there!  We will see how it all comes together.  Here it is...

Well, after our sweat-filled day, I think a shower is in my future.  Andy's flag football team is set to play tonight in the league semi-finals (and hopefully finals).  I just couldn't be more proud. :)  So in honor of their team, I will sign off with...GO CRICKET SPIDERS!!!  Have a great weekend!
